Did you know that in Japan,
or at least in Tokyo, it's very common to see japanese man carry a handbag? Of
course, I didn't know that either, I saw a video on youtube yesterday about
that.
Apparently, men in Japan start to care more about their looks in the
late 70s and the early 80s, when a lot of men's magazines came up. The
main reason why men in Japan use a handbag is the practicability. People
who live in Tokyo have a very busy life and spend a lot of time travelling by
train from home to the centre of the city. And people might not come home after
work before sports or party activities.
For me, as western
person, that's very weird. If I saw a man here in Brazil carriyng a bag like
that I probably would think he is homossexual or something and I probably would
not be the only one. Most of the people on the streets would think like that.
And people still say that brazilian people have a very "open
culture". That's so not the truth. Of course, maybe in big cities like São
Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or Curitiba that kind of thing wouldn't be seen as
"weird", "different" or just gay. But in others cities could be like that
(unfortunately).
Thanks for your time and
have a nice day. ;-)
